The South West London Suicide Bereavement Service

The South West London Suicide Bereavement Service is available for self-referral. The service is a single point of contact providing practical support to individuals, families and others bereaved and affected by suicide. It can also refer on to other appropriate services.

The service is currently hosted by Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster Mind (BWW Mind).

An initial contact is made with the bereaved to offer:

  • 1:1 support
  • Provision of relevant information including Help at Hand booklet
  • Provision of Beyond the Rough Rock booklet for children
  • Signposting to bereavement support organisations, peer support groups and/ or mental health services for counselling/support
  • An offer of advocacy and liaison support during inquests or related meetings that may be part of the process following the suicide
  • Long-term support to contacts with the service, working closely with existing bereavement services and other agencies to support individuals and families

Clinics and Services

ECG Monitoring

We now perform all ECGs in our surgery and it normally takes about 20-30 minutes. Please make an appointment with Julie our ECG technician.

Phlebotomy (Blood Tests)

We provide phlebotomy (blood test) services at the Practice. Agnes is our phlebotomist and is available every morning Monday – Friday between 08:00 and 11:30.

Please contact the reception to book an appointment for the blood test if you have already discussed it with the doctor.

Due to staff availability the phlebotomy clinic will be closed from Monday 25th to Friday 29th of May.

If your blood test is urgent and you have a request form with you please visit the walk-in clinic at Balham Park Surgery which is open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 12:00 and on Saturday 09:00 – 11:00.

Minor Surgery

Some of our GPs can perform excisions of minor skin lesions such as moles, sebaceous cysts and some lipomas. They also give steroid injections into shoulders, elbows & knees to help with arthritis and tendonitis. Dr Popelyuk and Dr Aryan Jogiya have extra qualifications in minor surgery and are happy to help anyone with something they would prefer to be without but you can make an appointment with any of our doctors to discuss the options.


It is important that your lung capacity is measured regularly if you have asthma, emphysema or other lung problems. Please make an appointment with Julie if you need a review.

Cervical Smears

Our practice nurses normally provide the expertise required although in some situations the doctors will also do them for you. Please make an appointment to see our practice nurses if you are due to have a smear. Smear tests are required by women over the age of 25 and will be repeated every 3 years until you are 65 years old.


Our nearest X-ray departments are at St. John’s Therapy Centre and St. George’s Hospital.

All X-rays must be requested by a clinician using the appropriate form.

Sexual health services in South West London (Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth)

Sexual health services in Wandsworth are commissioned by Wandsworth Council and provided by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) from six locations across Wandsworth, Richmond and Merton.

The service has a new website which can be found here:

The site houses important information on sexual health clinic locations and opening times; as well as useful details on STIs (including treatment), contraception and accessing emergency contraception and key contact details – among other key details for people of all ages.

Importantly, the website includes the ability to book an appointment online enabling service users to book appointments themselves. The website also includes information on accessing the home testing e-service.

Sexual Health South West London has opened a new centre on the 1st floor of 160 Falcon Road, next to Clapham Junction station.

Falcon Road is the hub of Sexual Health South West London’s services for three London boroughs (Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth) – with satellite clinics in Mitcham, Twickenham and Wimbledon.

It is open from Monday to Saturday with regular sessions (including walk-in) specialising in care for young people, women, gay men and men who have sex with men (MSM).

Wandsworth Integrated Sexual Health Service

WISH will provide a range of services including, but not limited to:

  • Testing and managing sexually transmitted infections
  • Emergency and ongoing contraception
  • Rapid HIV testing
  • Referral for termination of pregnancy C-card registration and free condoms
  • HIV post sexual exposure treatment (PEP)
  • In addition, the service will offer a range of specialist services including long-acting contraception, young people’s and gay men’s clinics, psychosexual therapy and a dedicated service for people with learning disabilities.
