Prescription requests
How to request a prescription
Please order your repeat prescription online via the NHS APP
If you find the digital aspect of care challenging, and need help in setting up the NHS app, you can attend digital drop-in sessions. These are available at the Putney Library from 09:30 to 11:30 every Friday or the Roehampton Library from 14:00 to 16:00 on the first Friday of the month.
Telephone: 020 3923 593
Email: Andraya.Catlyn@nhs.net
If you still feel unable to use the NHS APP, please contact your pharmacist who can also order medication for you or request your prescription via the website. We require 48h to process prescription requests.
Medication must be requested in writing. We are unable to process verbal requests. This is for your own safety.
If you need to request new medication that has not previously been prescribed by a GP at this surgery, please make an appointment.
If you require medication for regular and continuing treatment it is not necessary to see a clinician each time. Repeat Prescription requests should be made via the NHS APP.
For any non-regular medications please use the admin query contact form under ‘something else’
We require 2 working days to process prescription requests. Within 2 workings days of a request, we will either prescribe or notify you if we need further information.
We do not send texts to confirm that a prescription has been completed. After 2 working days please contact your pharmacy to check it is there.
Please contact your nominated pharmacy to discuss when your medication will be ready to be collected. If you have changed your chosen pharmacy, then please inform us at the time of the request.
Repeat Dispensing will make it easier for you to obtain your medications directly from your chemist, without having to request a prescription from us each time. Your GP will send your regular or repeat prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. You can then collect your medication from your pharmacy or ask them to deliver it to your home.
Please see link below for more information.
Please note that GPs don’t convert a private prescription to an NHS prescription. Patients should NOT assume that the GP will prescribe this for them.
Private consultants are responsible for
- Giving the first prescription of any new medication. They may need to continue prescribing until your condition is stabilised.
The patient will be responsible for:
- Obtaining the medication recommended via a private prescription.
- The cost for the medication and associated monitoring.
The GP may be able to write a prescription for you after reviewing a detailed clinic letter from the consultant which must:
- outline the reasons for treatment.
- explain the precise details of the prescription.
- explain what condition the medication is being used to treat.
- how long the treatment is intended for.
- What, if any, monitoring or follow up is required.
Prescriptions written by a private provider can only be actioned if they fall within local NHS guidelines. These can take up to 10 working days to assess and process.
